Hi everybody.
This page gets a very confused look from time
to time;- long rambling advertisements for biological
paraphernalia of every decription etc. If there
is a programme to restrict letters to the subject
of music I'd be glad to hear about it. In the
meantime thanks to everyone who has sent messages
of encouragement. Here are some replies to queries,
with apologies for being slow..
Re. 'Twelfth Night', I think the CD has been discontinued so lack of availability may help explain the high price. I prefer not to have to do mail-outs myself, but as there seems to be some demand I'll look into the possibility of including some 12th Night tracks on a CD planned for 2006 release [at a reasonable price]. How would that be? Sheet music of the songs is also a possibility for 2006.
Re. 'The Winter's End' the full score exists for orchestral performance and will soon be included on the 'Concert Works' page. it may also be time to make a 'short' score version available on the Sheet Music page. Re. the enquiry about other tracks on Liam O'Flynn's album 'Out to another side', I will also include info. on the Concert Works page.
Natasha, Rita Connolly's 'Tears' is on her 'Rita Connolly' album on Tara.
The music from the RSC's 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' was a limited run sold only in the RSC shops in England. May be difficult to supply. Will look into it.
By the way, has anyone seen the Hallmark TV film version of 'David Copperfield? [with Hugh Dancy and Sally Anne Fields]. I ask because I did one of my best scores for that film, and although it wasn't discussed at the time,it would be great to see it released on CD; can't happen unless there's demand, though. So write to me here or to Hallmark, USA.
Best wishes, Shaun Davey

The Pilgrim has reached deep into my heart
and ministered to me. In particular, The Deer's
Cry has become my morning prayer. I play the CD
each day on my way to work. I am trying to decipher
the words to God Be With Me which follows The Deer
Cry. Could someone please send them to me. I am
fighting cancer right now and find healing balm
in these words. God bless you Shaun!

Hello to you both, Right now I'm listening to your
album 'Granuaile'. I know it's a few years old now,
but it is utterly fantastic. As a great fan of the
Lady in question, I really appreciate that you took
the time to put at least some of her life into words.
I have recently written a summary of the meanings
of each of the songs and where they fit into her
life. Having spent years researching the life of
Granuaile I would be humbled if you might read it
and tell me if you think I've got it right. If would
like to, then please contact me at the e-mail address
with this. Thank you again "Grania"

Dear Mr.Davey, Excuse me for my bold
approach, but I like to add you and your requiem
to the Requiem Survey, a website of nearly 1500
composers of requiems (or fragments). This website
has hundreds of visitors every day. Since you have
composed a requiem as well, I made a concept on:
http://www.requiemsurvey.org/composers.php?id=1487
As you can see, your page is not complete yet. So
I would appreciate it very much if you answer the
following questions: - What is your exact date of
birth (dd/mm/1948) - Year of composition of the
requiem? - Who are meant by "the men, women and
children of 1798" - Is there a recording and if
so, on what label? Looking forward to your response,
with kind regards, Kees van der Vloed webmaster

I just re-discovered Waking Ned Devine,
since I first watched it in theaters. Your score
is as much a character in that movie as anyone on
screen. I'm a filmmaker in New York, and would aspire
to working with someone of your caliber someday.

Many thanks, Shaun, Rita and Liam
for such wonderful music. I am no music critic,
but this is the best since I discovered Beethoven.
Did Beethoven have Irish ancestry?

Hi Shaun, Just watched and really
enjoyed Twelfth Night. I realise how crucial your
score was to our enjoyment of the film. My wife
and I often like to re-create the music from things
we have enjoyed. Is there any chance that the sheet
music from the film could be availble from you on
line or from another source ? Graham F (wind-synthesiser)

Dear Mr. Davey, I am currently with
a group at my college who are tryin to get together
to go into Kansas City and play at some sessions
and such, but I was talking to our leader about
the Tullymore Polka (The Witch, the fiddle, and
the phonebox) from Waking Ned Devine. I was wondering
if there is anyway to get a copy of the music so
that we could introduce it to our group. Let me
know! Thanks a bunch. Slán.

Dear Janet Cook,
re your query concerning 'The Lion, the Witch and
the Wardrobe', I don't own the rights to the 'book'
or lyrics [these are owned by Adrian Mitchell] ,
only to the music. The amateur rights are collectively
administered by Samuel French Publishers in London,[www.samuelfrench.london.co.uk]
and I hope they will be able to send what you need,
though probably not the CD which may only be available
commercially now via Amazon.com. Let me know if
you have any problems. Best wishes,
Shaun Davey

Dear Mr. Davey, I recently began
searching for a copy of your wonderful music for
Twelfth Night on Amazon.com. The only copy available
(and it was from an outside source) was priced at
$70, considerably more than a poor college student
like me can afford. Half.com had no copies, Ebay.com
had one, albeit located in Singapore. A search for
your name at the iTunes store yields nothing. Finally,
even Limewire, a file-sharing service with several
million users, had nothing. I am a great fan of
this album, and was wondering, sir, if there was
anything you could pollibly do to make your music
more available. Thank you so much for your time,

Hi Shaun, After a colleague of mine
saw James Joyce's "The Dead", he visited your website
and noticed that you had written the music for RSC's
production of "The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe".
After contacting RSC we were told that you carry
the rights to the music and the musical. We may
be interested in producing the show in 2005-2006.
Is this a possibility? Can we obtain a persural
script and sound track? Sincerely, Janet Cook Head
of Theatre Dept. Woods Cross High School
